A beautiful Walliserops trifurcatus trilobite measuring 78mm overall encapsulated within the original bedrock now excavated through a professional process of air-abrasive techniques revealing the remarkable carapace [exoskeleton] and thoracic spines which are highlighted from a single covering layer of lighter-coloured matrix [silt] the product of mineral deposits within the fossil bedding zone.

The once-animated arthropod carapace shows fascinating morphology while exhibiting distinctive features, including the enigmatic trident extending from the glabella [head]; although undetermined, one theory is as a sensory organ for defence.

Now exposed using the latest techniques, overall a superb connoisseur specimen, revealing nuances of the carapace, with extraordinary undulations between the thoracic segments, visually defined from the trident to the pygidium [tail].
